Think To Ink: Success!

On September 17th, Cedar Graphics hosted the Think To Ink event and open house, welcoming over one-hundred design and print professionals to the Cedar Graphics facility for an up-close look at its inner workings. Attendees got the chance to hear from our two amazing guest speakers: Von Glitschka of Glitschka Studios—a small boutique design firm based out of the Pacific Northwest—and Trish Witkowski, known for her popular YouTube series “60-Second Super-Cool Fold of the Week”. Despite uncooperative weather, the event went off without a hitch, and everyone in attendance learned a little something about what takes an idea from “think” to “ink”.

The day began with Von Glitschka’s presentation. Offering examples from designers and non-designers alike, as well as from his own work, Von spoke about how to revitalize your personal creative routine.

Although the rainy weather spoiled plans for a sunny outdoor meal, the delicious food catered by Burgerfeen more than made up for it and kept spirits high. While they were waiting to eat, guests were welcome to take a look around the Cedar Graphics facility on a guided tour. Attendees explored all corners of the building, and got to have a close look at our new HP Indigo digital press, as well as the powerful five- and six-color offset presses.

Guests were also welcome to take part in the paper vendor fair, where they could check out samples from some of the biggest names in the paper industry, including: Mohawk, GPA, Veritiv, Domtar, HP, and Neenah.

After a brief interlude during which a few lucky guests won some great prizes, the presentations resumed. The second speaker, Trish Witkowski, gave us some great ideas to help mix-up a boring direct-mail campaign and increase user interactivity with mailers. Trish is President of Rock the Mailbox and “Chief Folding Fanatic” at foldfactory.com. On top of being an author, speaker, and award-winning designer, Trish curates “the world’s most exciting collection of folded print and direct mail samples.”

Once Trish was finished taking questions, there was a final prize drawing and the event concluded. Cedar Graphics would like to extend our thanks to everyone who helped make the event possible, including all those who attended.
